Safety Stop Cafe

Opened in 2024 by Kate and Fina, the Safety Stop Café was created as a cosy space where everyone—divers and non-divers alike—can enjoy the same delicious food served on our dive trips. After years of rave reviews, Kate wanted to give Fina a chance to share her cooking with a wider audience, while also creating a space to train and inspire others through food.

Our menu changes with the seasons, guided by what’s freshest in the local markets. Each week features a rotating lineup of meat and veggie mains, paired with generous, flavorful side dishes that showcase the best of what’s available.   • Breakfast rolls: Order by 7am for same-day pick up (collect from 7-9am)
  • Luncboxes: Order by 2pm for next day (collect from 7-8:30am)
  • Dinner: Order by 2pm for next day (collect from 4-5:30pm)

Our Team

Kate – UK

Owner

You know Kate from Dreamers Dive Academy, but you may not know that when she was 10 years old dream was to be a chef. As co-founder of The Safety Stop Café, she now has a second dream job. While she’s not in the kitchen full-time, Kate loves developing new recipes and working with the team to create good food, good vibes, and great company. A bit of a mama hen, she’ll make sure no one leaves hungry.

Fina – Manatutu

Owner & Head Cook

A natural in the kitchen, Fina has a gift for making everything she cooks just click. Creative and intuitive, she brings fresh life to traditional Timorese dishes and isn’t afraid to experiment. Over the past year, she’s also been mentoring other staff, passing on her knowledge with patience and enthusiasm. Hardworking, talented, and full of heart—the Safety Stop is lucky to have her.

Abe – Liquica

Assistant Cook

With her beautiful smile and welcoming energy, Abe is always ready to brighten your day. Trained in EDTA and a whiz with the coffee machine, she’s also found a passion for baking—especially our beloved brownies and cookies. Over the past year, she’s grown so much, always eager to learn and give a little extra—even taking the plunge on a discovery dive. We couldn’t be prouder to have her on the team.

Ameta – Dili

Cleaner

Ameta started as a cleaner, but her dedication and hard work have made her an essential part of the café team. She keeps everything spotless and running smoothly, while also helping with the early morning food prep that fuels our dive trips. We couldn’t manage our catering—or our coffee!—without her.

Rose – becora

Honorable Mention

Our journey began with Rose as our assistant, and we truly wouldn’t be where we are today without her. She helped build this venture from the ground up—supporting us through every early step. Though she’s moved on to new things, she’s still part of the Dreamers family, always showing up to lend a hand at special events. Rose will always be part of this dream.
